Hi all, this is my first post...

I was told by several of the folks on the WSG-CMS list that Drupal should meet my needs, but I just wanted to ask here first, before committing.

Here are my main requirements, not in any particular order:

1. Forum (do not mind using 3rd-party forum like PunBB)
2. Member-only section (will have articles and other member-only resources)
3. Member-sign-up with payment module: Pay for month/year subscription (willing to settle for paypal, but the option for a full-on payment module would be perfect.)
4. Ability to allow a "free trial period"
5. Advertisement module? Or, would a third-party advertising setup work best? I have been wanting to try-out Openads over on Sourceforge.
6. Classifieds

That is all the requirements I can think of for now... Would Drupal be a good pick?

My second question:

What is the best Drupal host -- US-based -- that does not charge an arm-and-a-leg, is not fly-by-night, and has the option to upgrade packages at a reasonable price?

A few hosts that look good to me:

http://www.webfaction.com/ -- I have been using them to test Django... so far so good for that Python framework.

Also, I have heard good/bad things about GoDaddy Linux hosting...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

hi.

from the list of requirements, I can confidently say that drupal is very right for you. with the help of some contrib modules, like ecomerce and advertise, you should be fine.

as hosting, I can only tell you my experience, I am currently using www.liquidweb.com a bit expensive, but very professional.
