Feature to fill the votingapi_cache based solely in votingapi_vote

For votes module searching, I can fill automatically the votingapi_vote just for testing (I use the devel module).
The problem is that in the Voting API administration panel tricks the user with the "Tally results at cron-time", and untill I found the Issue "votingapi_cache table is not updated in "Tally results whenever a vote is cast" mode" (http://drupal.org/node/234545) I spended much time wondering what would I do to make it work (cron, update.php, empty cache and so on...).
So first, I think that this option would be better explained in the administration panel to do not trick others. And second and more important, let the module offer an option to automatically fill the votingapi_cache table, independently from a real act of vote, but solely on the votingapi_vote content.
