We're proud to announce the release of E-Commerce Version 3. This release is compatible with Drupal 4.7 and Drupal 5.x!

We've added, removed, refactored and debugged a great deal of code since the previous 4.7 release: invoicing, anonymous purchasing, recurring payments, flexible charges, new shipping methods just to name a few. Please refer to the release notes for a full list of new features and improvements.

E-Commerce now has Versions?

With changes to the Drupal release system, E-Commerce now comes in flavours called "Versions". The current Version 3 can be downloaded for Drupal 4.7 or Drupal 5. Each of these releases contains the same features. Hence Version 3 is defined by it's features.

Where can I download?

Please refer to the E-Commerce project page for the latest official releases, or you can access the new releases via the links below. To install E-Commerce, please refer to the installation notes on the E-Commerce Handbook pages

We hope you find this new release a major improvement over previous versions of E-Commerce, and we look forward to bringing you more goodness as we approach Drupal 6.

Cheers!
E-Commerce maintainers.

And that's some very clever artwork on the Australian dollar. I did a double take when I first saw it because it looked unusual and, to my delight, I realized it had been Drupal-ized! Nice.

Again, great job to you, Gordon, and all the e-commerce contributors. The e-commerce module has a LOT of moving parts and my hat's off to all of y'all - that's Texas slang for "you all". ;)

In particular, I'm looking forward to testing out the ec_recurring (recurring products subsystem) and ec_roles (role assignments), both developed by Sammy Spets.

Rock on!

Thanks Walt

I took down the Australian $2 dollar image, because I was unhappy with it. I didn't get the texture of the face right at all - well, I'm only a part-time photo-shopper. For now, reverted to the previous mock-up :-)

OK, new version ;-)

Great work Gordon and eCommerce team. I think Drupal eCommerce is now very close to get in main stream as a reliable solution.

The wait is finally over, thanks for this great contribution.

Edit: Update Status Module is telling me to 'update' to version 5.x-3.0-rc1, even though I have 5.x-3.0.

neclimdul’s picture

I think this must have been some sort of weird caching error or something. Its not happening for me now.

psi-borg’s picture

first of all, a hearty thank you to all who've produced this gem... and a quick question: what's the difference between this and ecommerce-5.x-3.0-rc1.tar.gz ?

i noticed the shipping/*.install case statements for

=======================================
switch ($GLOBALS['db_type']) {
case 'mysql':
=======================================

is still empty. why was mysql case omitted ?

rc= release candidate. a few bugs were fixed since that version.

scroogie’s picture

It was not omitted, its just using the same commands as the mysqli case. A switch continues to execute all commands in a case block until it encounters the end of the block (through break or the end of the whole switch block).

I have been testing for a while, and it looks better and better. And now the first release, well done! Just a question: so far I have not been able to get my downloadable shop working. Anybody so far succesful with downloadable items?

All the same, very nice job and congrats!

Otherwise, a pretty cool rework of the Aussie $2.

sime’s picture

I was in two minds about that, I really like the font of the "TWO DOLLARS". It would have been a shame to cover it up and way too painful to modify it.

EDIT: OK, try that...

rszrama’s picture

lol @ "Few dollars" Great job on the image... your skills far exceed my own. And many congrats to the whole team for all the updates that have been going on!

I can't imagine what it will be like once 6.x comes out with a new menu system. : (

Dear Gordon and other maintainers and all users,
thank you very much for some great improvements
1) the write up was quite helpful

2) if you succeed in using the new version, can you please post some comments here, especially your product types and payment systems. generally drupal.org records problems, which would lead us to think something doesn't work when it mostly works.

I notice someone said downloadable products didn't seem to be working.

3) if anyone is switching over from lm_paypal or quickfile, or just comparing them live or in sandboxes, i would appreciate hearing your feedback.

4) I'd interested to hear from those using anonymous purchasing.

thanks.

sampelo had some good suggestions/requests.

For me, I'm particularly interested in the following:

3) if anyone is switching over from lm_paypal or quickfile, or just comparing them live or in sandboxes, i would appreciate hearing your feedback.

I, too, would truly appreciate any info on lm_paypal users - whether they switched over to ecommerce or if they're comparing it to ecommerce.

As always, thanks in advance!

I can't get over how sweet that bill is? When I get my jimjam store set up, can I post it on my site somewhere with a link back here, or does that violate something or other? I've just discovered drupal, but I love it. As time permits, I'm going to gradually move all my sites over.

sime’s picture

Like any derivative of Druplicon, the image is GPL like Drupal itself. I need to put the psd somewhere probably, should organize that sometime...

PS. the previous image is here

Excited to learn about the newest release of ecommerce module.

I am onto designing a site of a producer which handles with a multiple types of client groups: stockists, distributors, wholesellers, resellers, retailers and endusers. Actually the items would be same except the cost per item and delivery policies differs for different groups.

Is that possible with the ecommerce module? Or somebody else has already achieved that and is somewhere here?! Pointers and links appreciated. Thanks in advance
