Hi

I am using D 7.7 (latest) and just uploaded 7.x-1.0-unstable2 version of meta tags.

I know this is unstable and likely to have a few little niggles.

I am just reporting that get the below error after uploading new module and cannot use website at all, I have to reinstall the old module.

The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later.

I have tried update.php, but to no avail.

If you need to know anything else let me know.

P.S. - I usually get the above error because of permission problems, but I can see no related folders in default/files... that I can chmod to sort

I'm also getting this issue. Error appears all over the site. Had to disable the module.

Did you try to directly update from unstable1? There's currently no update path you have to unistall unstabe1 before you install unstabel2.

#3 is correct. There is no currently supported upgrade path between unstable releases. You need to uninstall the module and then copy in the new files.
