Let me add my 2c worth. I'd also like an upgraded module.

I am on it.
Committed the first changes to HEAD just now. It needs some more work, then some testing. Then I will release a -dev version.
Once that -dev version is tested and confirmed to work, I will release a stable 5.x version.
