When a view is first created, the default view mode is shown. Then you can go and choose a different view mode, but if you decide that you want to go back to the default view mode, the option is not there.

This has nothing to do with EFQ Views, you want to go to Views settings and click "always show master"

Issue summary: View changes

Trying to fix the incorrect spelling on the title, but I don't know how. Anyways, I caught a couple more in the body of the Issue
