Hi All,
My elaborate custom site is almost done except for the standard issue social networking aspects. I read about Drupal Commons, but it is 17mb and has a lot of features I do not need, so instead I decided to pull in some of the components I still had not installed and to try to kludge together my own social network.
This is what I have installed, so far...

Panels
CTools
Flags
Heartbeat
ImageCache
User Relationships
Voting
Organic Groups
Plus PathAuto, NodeTitle and a lot of the other basic "have to have" modules.
BUT where do I go from here? I looked at a whole set of video tutorials about Page Manager so that I could use Panels and CTools, but I am stumped as to how to begin to integrate these other modules.
Anyone know of good online tutorials or books out there? There is the 2009 book, but it seems it would be out of date since a lot of the modules have been updated and rewritten since then - or is the book still pretty much the authority on this?
