Hi
I have seen a few content rich/social sites like
nowpublic.com
teamsugar.com
usmagazine.com
And I would like to set up something similar, I want something close to the above site, while encompassing something similar to Yahoo directories, or msn
I know all this can be done as I have seen the above sites.
Now in order to kick start my site I will need a regular feed of content, I was wondering if by any chance there is a way of setting up a content subscription system whereby users are paid say £0.50 or $1 for every article they submit, as long as they submit an article say every week.
If they miss a week's submission the system resets itself and all the accumulated funds return to zero. Total money is paid say quarterly or bi-annually, this way I can get a regular supply of content.
In short want I want is:
fresh content
social networking
business directory
news portal
subscription (secondary requirement)
The target group of this site hasn't been exploited as yet, well so I assume.
Thank you for reading

e-magazine development
Has anyone succeeded in developing an e-magazine website? According to a company called Acquia, the following companies web sites were developed in Drupal: The New York Observer, Fast Company, Popular Science and Forbes. I need to develop an educational magazine website. Has anyone made a module for social networking and magazine websites? I may even need a developer, if I can't figure this out.
Thanks for reading and for your help.

There isn't "a module" for this-- this is what drupal does. It's a framework for building such a site. iirc, there's case studies / success stories for most, if not all, the sites you mention-- as well as many others.
