My custom Garland theme has been working wonderfully for a few weeks on my site. I've used the inbuilt colour editor to create a custom garland theme both on my local server test site (laptop) and the live site. Has always worked well when exporting and importing mysql tables - no problem.
The last few times however, after importing the tables from the test site to the live site (and vice versa) the Garland theme has defaulted to the original Garland colours. When having a look at the theme menu, my custom colouring is still the default option (although the preview is now missing). When opening the configuration page to the theme it is obvious that my colour choices are also still active, but I need to now hit the 'submit' button to activate it for usage on the site. After doing this, the preview on the theme selection page reappears.

What is broken?

I've noticed that the folder into which Garland saves the customized colour options (example: files/color/garland-2881bc0e) now has several instances of the customized Garland theme - one for each time I submit the them I suppose, except that the code number of the 'garland-xxxxxxxx' folder is different for each instance. So, somehow the Garland theme no longer recognized the previous theme adjustment.

I've also noticed that some pages will still display the default Garland colouring even after submitting the custom colouring, until the refresh button on the browser is clicked.

Why has this happened to the theme? How do I fix it?

When I change the color, I receive the following:

    * The selected file themes/garland/images/menu-collapsed.gif could not be uploaded, because the destination is not properly configured.
