most common websites -mostly the popular news websites has a default IU action and people used to the behavior that -a click on node images links to the node that the image attached - rather than the pop up to the orginal image as in the node images module.
That would be an option -where a click on images should link

- js pop up -as it is curently
- to the original node that the image attached
- thickbox or lightbox (if/when they are installed)

If you consider and if is feasable such feature

thanks for the module, -imo- it is the most popular and method of image handling for nodes
