I don't want pay-per-node to show up on all my user roles. I'd like some sort of buy pay-per-node permission.

Here's a patch that I wrote. It assumes that you have set up your permissions or some sort of access control so that the user you don't want to see the pay per node tab is not allowed to see the product that is pay per node.

Feature added to 7.x-1.x branch.
Now users must have "access own pay per node balance" to access "pay per node" tab on their profile pages.
