The first comment should be number 2. Subsequent comments should increase sequentially, regardless of the order of the listing.

Is there a chance anyone will port this to Drupal 7? I'm having this exact problem there. I would do this myself but i don't have the programming skills needed :(

That's how it is by default in D7. I thought it was that way in D6 as well but don't have any D6 sites anymore to check.

My problem isn't the same as the one posted here. Must have misunderstood it originally. I will create a separate issue for my problem.
