NOt many sites are using the 3.x branch and my guess is because we do not have a dev branch available for download on the project page.

Should we make the dev available so we can get more feedback?

I discussed with dereine at the DrupalCon London, he said for him it is a Beta ;)

So I would say we can release it as a DEV or a BETA, but we should definetly make a good description, why the 2.x-dev isn't maintained any more, and that there is an upgrade path from 7.x-2 to 7.x-3
