I feel like this must be possible, but I simply can't find the right menus, etc...

Is there a way to restrict posting NEW contents (blogs, documents) within a SPECIFIC group to only on class of user? Say, admins only?

In other words - we'll have a number of open/organic groups for our partners/users, but we want one 'official' or 'corporate' group where the content can only be POSTED by a certain user (or class), but can be READ and COMMENTED on by any group member...

Am I missing something simple? Is this possible?

You may see some setting at: admin/settings/commons
It should be the "Group Settings" fieldset that may interest you case!

But for a more grained access permission you should consider to use another strategy,
for example installing Content Access
and build dedicated user/customer (ie 'official' or 'corporate' roles) and administer the edit permissions
throughout the content_access module.

There are for sure more other easier or more complex options.
