I set my homepage to /home in Site Information. If I load www.mysite.com/home, the banner rotates. If I load www.mysite.com, it does not.

Yes, that's interesting. Can you set up a URL redirect to make all instances of www.mysite.com/home redirect to www.mysite.com? You can add this possibly in the .htaccess file, though I'm not an expert on it. Sounds like it should have a simple, solution, though.
