and i'm wondering how I can add a module, thing

So people can add avatars.

I downloaded it but not sure how to add it.

Here's the handbook page, though most modules come w/ instruction sheets (eg. install.txt).

There's no need to add a module for avatars. Every user can add their own picture / avatar. You just need to enable it. First go to admin >> user >> settings. Scroll down to "Picture Support" and enable it. Users can go to my account >> edit and add their picture.

To have the avatars appear on pages you may need to take more steps. For example, you should configure your current theme to display "user pictures in posts" and/or "user pictures in comments". Other modules that display avatars may need to be installed / configured.

i think the user downloaded the avatar selection module or avatar gallery module which are new.
