It would be nice to have the facility of defining new sections for content within the team page (like what happens with cck and webform).
This way you're not restricted to a photo and a description.

Ideas for the new area fields:
pulling the latest content generated by the group
a group specific welcome message
the team members (as opposed to each member having to add their description - which I think is what happens now?)
pulling a specific content type created by the group like a 'group' blog or journal, etc.

Teampage now in version 5.x only extends the organic goup pages with the presentation of the members.
The Features you requested are provided with og (welcome message, latest content). Did you ever test the modules?
