I've enabled user pictures and uploaded a picture for a particular user. When I look at comments created by this user there is no picture. Shouldn't the picture also be displayed for content under the username and date? Again there is no picture. What else do I have to do?

Also, the field for a no photo image asks for a path. Why doesn't it let me upload it an put it in the proper place like other images? This is dumb.

got this working.

Admin UI leaves a little to be desired.

User Management > User Settings

Default picture:
sites/default/files/pictures/no_photo.png

create sites/default/files/pictures

Simpler is always better.
