I think that I already know the answer but am I correct in assuming the boost does not work on zeus servers?

Can anyone confirm this and ideally help point us in the right direction for getting Boost to work with Zeus.

You could make it work by converting the htaccess rules to the correct Zeus syntax. Found some general examples in this post: http://drupal.org/node/46508
There are two sets of htaccess rules in boost: those that go in the main .htaccess, and those that are auto-generated in the .cache/example.org/.htaccess. The handbook pages for nginx and IIS might also provide some hints.
