I have installed both the 5.X dev and the 5.1 releases.
with both versions, while it installs fine.. it does not import smily pack (including the incuded example pack)
moreover, when menually adding a smiley, it complete, but refuses to see the smily.
(the smileys table DOES have the manually added entry..
but NO entries from the previous attempt to import)

This is a vanilla fresh-installed Drupal 5.1 setup.

UpdAte on issue:

the 5.x-1.1 'official' release that is the default for download from the modules page appears to
be from late 2006 and buggy,
the 5.x-1.x-dev version seems to be the working version from more recent in 2007.
you may wish to re-tag this release as the 5.x-1.1 release so that users will be downloading a working version.
