We've moved our Indymedia site to Drupal:

We've used CCK+contemplate+imagefield+imagecache to duplicate the convenient image uploading features of the old Indymedia CMS, sf-active.

Indymedia sites are a little different than most community sites, as they attempt to both serve political dissidents and minimize editorial control of dissenting views.
