Hi everyone

I am asking on behalf of a new client.

They are an RC model powerboat association (not a club). Clubs are affiliated to them.

They are seeking to have a new site built, and I have suggested D7 (having been a D5 user myself). But I have come unstuck in that my knowledge of Drupal is extremely limited, so I am looking to farm this out.

Current site = http://www.nzmpba.co.nz
A site they like = http://bmmclub.com

There comments:
Ideas and proposals for new NZMPBA webpage
Suggestions,
1. Drop Propshaft – all to go onto website. This could be downloaded as a PDF.
2. Liking for the Brisbane Club webpage as a guide ?
3. Improved news section –regatta reports – photos
4. After a set amount of time the news photos can be grouped into folders
5. Presidents updated club points
6. Scale hydro register (1/8 scale, B, C)
7. ‘Hot’ or ‘Tech’ tips section
8. A password on line assoc. Accounts set up for assoc. Financials
9. Minutes section, committee and AGM
10. A repeating high-lighted pop up on home page that has basic details of next event on calendar and major events ie nationals.
11. Rolling images on homepage (static photos can be boring. Good action photos of both boats and members.
12. Possible multiple sub sites, ie sub-site for approved assoc. Affiliated clubs.
13. Local clubs need priority on webpage, or at least easily accessible.
4. Scrap forum – replace with ‘notice board’, would need working out but with a limited display time for postings. Some of the postings on the forum go back years!!
5. Section for members to post relevant ‘youtube’ clips, either of their own or interesting model power boat related clips from overseas.
16. An inquiry page where interested parties can enter their email details, name etc and write a message for information on the association or activities This would need to be monitored and looked after by a designated committee member
17. The classified section on the old page was not used, and hasn’t been for years, but maybe thhe new look page might encourage more use, especially if the forum is done away with.
18. An Archives section, this can be multi faceted. There is a lot of history in the Assoc and this would be a good way of collating it and getting it on record.

My thoughts:

I thought the Marinelli theme would be a good start, but open to suggestions.

I was thinking of using phpBB3 for the forums but am not entirely sure if it would be such a good idea.

The other thing they will need that they have not mentioned is an area for NZMPBA membership. This area should automatically send a member notification that their membership is about to expire and provide a link so they can renew their membership. I will talk to them about what methods they wish top make available to receive payments.

They should also have a calendar to post events.

Any other questions please ask. If I am not sure I will forward your question to the committee.

This site needs to be easy for a technophobe to get information into, remember, these guys race RC powerboats, and most of them can use a computer. That's about their limit.

I looked into using OG or civiCRM, but at that point I wasn't even treading water so gave up.

Looking for your price to build the site.

Regards

Fred
