Control display per node?

Would it be possible to allow users to turn on or off the display of icons/widgets per node?

I'd love to enable say the twitter and facebook widgets sitewide per-node-type (as is currently the implementation of this module), and then have each registered member of my site choose to display these when adding/editing their own nodes of that type I've allowed display for.
