I have installed the comment notify like the install.txt file, there is no errors, but the notifications don't seems to work.

It's only for registred users, there is no message in the logs, so I can't determine if something is buggy or not...

I have created a couple of test comments here...

Should I see something in the logs?

It can be helpful to use http://drupal.org/project/maillog which will log emails sent from your site. That way you know if the problem is the module or just sending mail.

I have installed the maillog module but this does not make any logs entry either...

What settings do you have? A screenshot of admin/settings/comment_notify might help debug this.

Sure thing greggles...

Anonymous users can't post comments, it is just for the register users...

I am not experiencing this. I did try to reproduce the behavior.

Could you specify more details about your configuration?

  • Do you require approval of the comments first - even for registered users?
  • Do you have email notifications turned off?
  • What settings are you using for maillog?
  • Is the Author receiving notifications when comments are posted?

I would like to help if I can, if you can provide as much information about your configuration it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tested it with anonymous users? If so is the behavior any different, or if not could you try that to see if the behavior is any different?

Thank you!

Your answer sir...

-Do you require approval of the comments first - even for registered users?: No
-Do you have email notifications turned off? : No
-What settings are you using for maillog? : Since it was a year ago, I actually removed maillog. But I could reactivate it if needed.
-Is the Author receiving notifications when comments are posted? No, this is currently uncheck.

My website has a big volume of spammers/scanners, so activating anonymous users is out of the question.

Thanks.

@alexandreracine thank you for answering those questions. Do you recall the configuration you where using the module in? Other modules you had enabled? I am trying to identify the exact conditions and replicate the problem and thus far I am not experiencing the same issue.

Thanks

@alexandreracine that is a lot of modules. Have you tried using Comment_notify on a fresh/clean/new site?

Or only with the modules listed?

alexandreracine’s picture

Only with this full list activated.
