After aptitude update of packages on Debian Squeeze strange things started happening with apachesolr search:
* apachesolr started to give random empty results.
* After each index delete, and re-index, empty results would appear at different places.
This problem occurs only on 64bit system with apachesolr running through jetty.
On 32bit version there was no problem and after putting apachesolr to run on tomcat problem was gone.
Versions used:
apachesolr version 1.4.1
java6 updated from 6.24-1~squeeze1 to 6.26-0squeeze1 when this bug appeared
Debian squeeze (6.0.2) amd64
This problem took too much time to find (installing 32bit and 64bit systems on different machines, different versions of apachesolr module) so this is just a writeup if someone else experience this problem.

pwolanin commentedodd indeed - I'll add this to my list of reasons maybe not to use the .deb packages for any of this.

nick_vhmihha, are you using the sun java package or another one? This happened to me once because I wasn't using the sun-java package.. Squeeze points to OpenJDK 6 so try to switch versions?

mihha commentedyes, it is sun's java. I think with open source platform has bigger issues (that are more easy to spot).
