copyright in node display author

Is there a way to display fields from a users profile as the author name? I'm thinking something like profile_first_name, profile_last_name, custom profile fields. It's tough to display a copyright message on a node as the username since the username is not legally the identifiable owner of the copyright, you need to display the actual name which could be stored in a custom profile field?
