The API docs file doesn't describe the simplest case of adding maxlength with hardcoded settings, as you might do in a custom module for a project.

Tweaked the formatting a bit too.

Yeah! Thanks.

It probably makes sense to adapt the 7.x-3.x documentation as well.

I thought that the 7 branch of this project was obsolete -- #1213884: maxlength_js is similar.

The 7.x-2.x branch is obsolote, but the 7.x-3.x is the code from maxlength_js, perhaps it needs documentation as well.

Ah -- I thought what was happening was that the D7 version would be over at the maxlength_js project.

If the 7--3 branch is wholly new code, I imagine its docs files are different anyway.

Status: Patch (to be ported) » Closed (won't fix)

We are only maintaining the Drupal 7 version of the module for critical security fixes, so I'm marking this Closed (won't fix). Thank you everyone for working on this issue. If you do want to maintain the Drupal 7 version, do reach out. We'd be happy to bring you on board as a maintainer.

I also encourage you, if you haven't already, to upgrade your site to Drupal 8/9. We are actively maintaining that version and you would enjoy all of the other features of the latest version of Drupal.
