Just wondering if this is on the roadmap somewhere. Would be great if we get to use all of views fancy field handling (rewriting, trimming, linking, limiting multi value, ....) in panels as well, as now I have to build a node display from several small views where this could be done directly in panels.

As they are the field handlers at the moment are really linked to views. They are part of the field handler.

What could be moved out is for example the trimming, linking etc. functions. For example there is already views_trim_anything which could be moved to ctools.
