Hi,

I am currently heavily extending the search_api and also search_api_solr so I'm not quite sure if this is sth I have done or if it's a bug. Nevertheless I could use some help :-)

My problem is that I have created a Node Index and a view to search the index. Works like a charm until I try to search for "The wave" (One Node has in its body the phrase "The wave of the future") which it should find. It does not. It finds the node if you search "The" and if you search "wave". So the search itself seems to work. If I create a Database Server and use it as the backend instead of Solr than I find "The wave", but with Solr nothing. This is the url I get for the solr query:

INFO: [] webapp=/solr path=/select params={sort=score+desc&start=0&q="The+wave"&qf=t_title&qf=t_author:name&qf=t_body:value&qf=t_body:summary&qf=t_field_tags:name&json.nl=map&wt=json&fq=index_id:node_index&version=1.2&rows=4} hits=0 status=0 QTime=397

At first I thought it was the "+" between The and wave but that seems to be okay. Removing it actually results in a bad request.

Any guesses where I could look? Happy to provide more information.

I created another fresh install of drupal with all the latest modules and WITHOUT my modification. Still can't search for a quoted string.

Surely you should be able to search for quoted strings, right?

Yeah, of course that should work. And the generated Solr query looks fine to me, as well …
Have you activated any processors for the index? And doesn't it work for other quoted strings either?

Hi,

I got it working now, but I'm not happy with the solution. The problem seems to have been caused by me editing the schema.xml to allow substring searches described here:
http://www.druplitec.de/partial-substring-search-using-solr-server-and-s...

Once I remove the extra line everything works fine again, but this is unacceptable. Beeing able to search for substrings is a must have feature imho. Isn't there a way to get both working?

Don't know, haven't tried this. It seems like it should work like that, though. Some problem with Solr then, apparently. Try the Solr support forums or mailing list.
