.htaccess / Password Protection of some sort?

I was wondering if we would be able to implement some sort of security, even if it was a Drupal based permission under "Access Control". I just don't want people wandering to http://domain.com/firestats/ and looking around. I tried to implement a .htaccess / .htpasswd based security system, but it wouldn't work with Drupal.

Let me know if this is possible.
