Basically use CT's ability to select the parent term so you only see results below that term (to a specified or unlimited depth).

Check out CT's select list for an idea of what I'm talking about. You can select the parent term and depth... then you only see the items in that range.

We needed this function also. This patch is small "dirty" patch. No term name - just term ID in settings, no depth. But 'working' good for our project :-)
- limit selecting terms to one parent term + freetagging
- excluding terms with one parent + freetagging

I would love this functionality as well, I am using an 'all' taxonomy term which I do not want exposed to end users.

I would also really like this. I cant seem to find any term reference field but "select list" that has this functionality.
