I'd like to start helping fix novice issues such as this:
QA: Member Directory[Accessibility
http://drupal.org/node/958696
I believe I've done all I need as far as setting up my ssh keys for gaining access to this project. Let me know if there's anything else I need to do in order to start helping.
Thank you,

Everett Zufelt commentedI'm not sure what is involved in this type of request, but a big +1 to anyone interested in improving d.o accessibility

rowbotony commentedHi, to clarify - my request is for access to a development environment for this project (that would be a sandbox, right? so I won't be able to commit or break anything, correct?). After reading Everett's response I see that my request seems rather vague and I'm not certain if I'm going about this the right way? Here's my trail getting to this point.
- Found a d.o issue I thought I could help with - http://drupal.org/node/958696
- Began poking around at http://drupal.org/getting-involved
-- http://drupal.org/getting-involved-guide
--- http://drupal.org/make-drupalorg-awesome
----- Develop on our server (preferred): http://drupal.org/node/1018084
From the instructions on the Develop on our server (preferred) preferred page I added my ssh keys to my profile. Step 2. on that page says:
2. Request a development environment by filing an issue. Be sure to include a bit about your skills and plans (ideally, with specific issues you're planning to work on), and request both a development site and SSH access to staging.drupal.org in the issue.
I'm a bit confused if this is what I'm supposed to do to get involved?
Thank you,

drummYes, this exactly the process to use. Dev sites, sometimes referred to as sandboxes, are independent of Drupal.org and don't have commit access. Changes should be attached as patches to the appropriate project. Drupal.org is just another Drupal site running a few modules and a custom theme.
This change looks like it is probably going to be a patch to our custom module or theme. I poked around a bit in comments you have posted, and looks like you are off to a good start. I didn't find an issue where you supplied a patch, I only clicked a few. It would be good to see one of those and/or comment here that you are good with digging through PHP code. Just want to make sure you'll be able to make good progress on this.
And thanks for your contributions so far.

rowbotony commentedUnderstood, I will find some Novice issues to work on and patch, then revisit this sandbox request in the future. Thank you.
