Hello. Please look at advupload module http://drupal.org/project/advupload
It's plupload library based.
It already does you need. But it's for D6 and I looking for co-maintainer to port it to D7 cause have not enough time to do this work.

Yeah his module looks pretty cool and has a lot of features.
If you dont know about it already, check out the Coder Review & Upgrade modules ... it automates and assists a lot with upgrading modules to the new drupal version with api change suggestions etc. You could have it 80% upgraded in a few clicks.

Would be nice to have suc ha module.
On D6 I used FUpload - multiple image loading at one page, but each photo was different in titles and body text. Having tags would be awsome too! :)
