I was wondering how I can get the user links in the upper right hand corner of my site to always appear even if you aren't logged in. I would like to use this space for some links that visitors can use. Any ideas on how I can do this?

You can do this by adding a block (menu or custom block) inside the header region and style this with CSS, see comments on: http://drupal.org/node/1169710
