The patch below appears to allow HeartBeat View to play dice with Views 3. Not being overly familiar with the nuts and bolts of Views 3, I'm not sure if this is the best way to accomplish integration, but it's got me started.

Basically, adding a bunch of public variables to the HeartBeat class replicating the existing db table variables but prefixed with $fieldalias seemed to do the trick. It would seem that assigning a value to a variable that didn't exist in the class definition was failing and hence Views was getting no data.

Seems to be working fine except I'm unable to get the user picture in views.

This #1 patch worked great. RTBC for sure, you can't get the Views 3 to work without it! Lets Roll +10000000
