I am designing a web site where a bibliography is part of a researchers network and forms a kind of 'dating' place for discussions. In this context it would be great if CCK fields, especially User Reference can be added to the already existing Biblio fields.

Upgrade to Biblio 6.x and current Views/Panels and you can address this issue.

I don't agree with #1. Partial resolution can happen simply by adding CCK fields to an existing biblio content type, but full resolution requires CCK implementation. Marking this as duplicate of #682044: Support fields (CCK) in D7 Bibliography Module.
