Captcha module doesn't seem to work? (4.5.0)

xand - November 15, 2004 - 15:34

I'm using Drupal 4.5.0, and Captcha 4.5.0

phpinfo shows that GD Support is enabled.

I installed it by moving it into /modules/captcha/, enabling it under modules, then setting it's tmp directory to a directory which did exist. permissions were first set at 755 then 777.

Unfortunately, it does not seem to be creating the actual images - has anyone got any ideas? I must have done something wrong.

Are you getting any error messages either on screen or in logs?

I get the obvious error message, that the 2428756183512351371.png (which the captcha module is suppsoed to generate) is not available.

It is quite strange. I simply assumed initialy that GD was not enabled, but it definitely is.

Need to Set Both Temp Dir Settings

Don't know if this will help, but I had this problem also when I first set up captcha. The problem was that I hadn't set the temp dir setting for *both* settings under Administer->Settings->Captcha.

Also, just an FYI, you can avoid an annoying warning email when the cron job does not find any files to delete if you get the latest version of captcha.module from CVS.

Get the latest captcha patch

daniel read - November 15, 2004 - 19:55

Maybe that second setting only showed up after I got the patch. Here is the url for captcha in CVS:

http://cvs.drupal.org/viewcvs/contributions/modules/captcha/

You can grab the latest captcha.module, which is newer than the one available for download on the main captcha page. After I got the patch and filled in that second setting (with the same folder name as I used in the first setting), mine started working.

Drupal 4.6.3.

I just installed the latest version (1.15) of captcha and it works.
