Using thttpd with Apache to serve images

SupaDucta - November 15, 2004 - 19:56

I am planning on porting another web server to serve images next to Apache.

I am considering thttpd or Tux, listening to another IP and port.

Is anyone using it to serve Drupal images, next to Apache to serve the rest?

How to configure Drupal to do it?

(this is OT)

Why would you want to do this?

To free Apache resources for PHP/mySQL, and because thttpd and Apache work well together and pages are served faster thus.

Especially because I am having some pretty large images on Drupal installation, more of them are yet to come and overall performance would be much better. Tux and thttpd are much, much faster than Apache, and then in Apache I could turn of KeepAlive (which isn't good if it is also serving images).
