How about having some more options to what you can add to publishing options with this module? Being able to add any kind of fields would be great!

In our case, we'd need something like "Show on front page until set date", and a Date field. Of course we could put this field somewhere else, or create it manually with Form API, but logically it would fit in the publishing options space and also the scope of this module.

For the sake of simplicity, CPO should just remain as it is in this regard.

If you'd like to do custom date publishing, I suggest the Scheduler module, which will do this right out of the box.
