Ok guys..2 days ago I installed drupal and it was working fine. Today I set up my domain name so I can access the webpage from windvis.com. It only showed the first page, but when I click on any on the links I get Error 500 - Internal server error.

I reinstalled drupal again and I have the same problem:
http://s125410096.onlinehome.us/drupal/ this works fine but if I type http://www.windvis.com and click on any of the links I get the 500 Error.

So I think this has something to do with my domain.

I spent the last 2 hours searchin for a solution and I haven't found one. My host is 1and1.com, I do not have access to the apache config file but I can modify the .htaccess file.

Any help would be appreciate.

A clean URL problem?

Also, I had this problem once when my host didn't like the default .htaccess. I had to strip it down to this:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

... to get it to work.

I am not sure why it would pitch a fit for the real domain and not the temp though. Have you asked the techs at you hosting service for help?

The solution with reduced .htaccess works fine, but not for subdomains.

The subdomain works for anonymous users (regisrtation, password renewal, ...), but login does not work.

Hi Folks, just called with tech-supp at strato.de. They say, that mod_rewrite is not used in Hosting Environments at all, because of security reasons supposedly. (Strangely a lot of guys here can use it on other hosters) ;o(

I said, that without clean URLs Search Engines will not be able to search and index subpages. Thats an intolerable loss for my customer. He said, well then, I should look for another hoster or get a dedicated server from us. (Oh so thats were the wind is coming from).

I am having the exact same problem. I had installed the Drupal website in a subfolder and it worked perfectly. When I moved it to the web root, only the front page works. Any link I click on gives me a 500 Internal Server Error page. Could you please share your solution to this problem? I've read a bunch of posts, mostly dealing with the .htaccess file. I've tried some of the suggestions, but it still won't work. Any help would be much appreciated.

One of my clients sites suddenly started returning 500 - Internal Server error.
We think it was hacked as one user logged on and off repeatedly prior to the site going down. It was eventually fixed by emptying the variables table. There was about 250 entries in that table and one or more of them was causing drupal's code to choke. Once the variable table was empty the site came up again and then I could reconfigure it.

You have to edit the database directly using phpMyAdmin or command line. Select the variable table and click on the empty tab.
WARNING This deletes all of the configuration of your site so you will have to go through and check every admin page and possibly enter your settings again. Only use as a last resort.

Make sure you back up the database first .
