Pageroute seems to automatically create a menu item under "navigation". This menu item seems to be impossible to edit or delete through UI. E.g. the edit link points to admin/build/menu/item/edit/-113, and clicking this link "results in page not found". Using Drupal 5.1.

I've just verified, it's working fine for me.
Possible that you got hit by this one? http://drupal.org/node/40879

I think I'm using hook_menu correctly. But for now I'm leaving this one open, if others have the same problem.

Well... Now it seems to work for me as well. The two routes I created yesterday still have uneditable menu entries, but things seem to work as they should for routes that I created now to test.
