It seems to me that the filestore (with db-stored files) is no longer available for 4.5.

What would be a good way to upgrade from filestore to filestore2 ?

The process is like this.

  1. Install filestore2
  2. Goto admin > settings > filestore > convert
  3. select transfer files
  4. select change nodes
  5. Now you can uninstall filestore

From that page you can also put them back in filestore.

In order to do this, I assume one should use Filestore 4.4.0 with Drupal 4.5.0 and Filestore 4.5.0?

The actual conversion is apart of filestore2, but filestore just needs to be installed, This just solved some issues , and gave me a warm fussy feeling.
