When a group is set to only allow membership after moderator approval, when a user requests to join, it still shows the world that they have joined, even if their membership is pending. If denied, the status message remains.

This is a fun one. OG doesn't provide any way to react differently to any of the various ways users can end up joining a group. I opened an issue for that here: #1352226: Add more useful Rules events for group membership

Just a note for future reference: once a new event becomes available, we have to change which event gets triggered during activity regeneration, in addition to changing the default Rules for Activity Log and Digests.
