Hello,
I have a Drupal 4.6.5 site that needs to be upgraded. I would like to go to 5.1. What would the recommended path be ?

4.6.5 -> 4.7.x -> 5.0 -> 5.1

Would this be the safest path?

Thanks in advance.

Well, I just upgraded my site from 4.7.x to 5.1 and it was the easiest upgrade yet. No database issues whatsoever. I had previously moved from 4.6.x to 4.7 and it was like nothing happened. If I recall correctly it was just a coupla security fixes. So, I'd say make sure you have a good database backup and it's probably safe to jump from current to 5.1. But you might want to wait and see if anyone else contradicts me.

Some good guidelines include: change back to default bluemarine theme, turn off all 3 party/contributed modules, and disable/removed any custom coded blocks prior to upgrading. Make sure you are logged in as administrator prior.

according to the drupal 5.1 release thread, for the most trouble free upgrade, it is best to upgrade to 5.0 before 5.1
