I'm trying to get this working for the comments form but it doesn't work. I've turned it on in the settings but it just doesn't wqork and comment submissions refresh the page

Only local images are allowed.

You need to enable the Ajax plugin - disable_redirect module, then select that option in the Ajax settings next to Ajax comments.
