What error message are you getting? Are you able to upload other types of files of the same size?

I click Add media
Authorized extensions: jpg jpeg gif png txt doc xls pdf ppt pps odt ods odp mp3 mov m4v mp4 mpeg avi ogg wmv ico
I browse to a DPF on local computer and submit
I get "Embedding document.pdf"
In options I select ORIGINAL
The submit button does not work

If your PDF is larger than 2 Meg, you may have to configure PHP to handle large file uploads. Here is an brief overview of common problems http://www.php.net/manual/en/features.file-upload.common-pitfalls.php . A search for "php large file uploads" will come up with a few tutorials and blog posts about settings for managing larger uploads.

Unfortunately, this is not a file size issue. php is set to upload_max_filesize 20M and the PDF document is below 2 MB. :/

I jus downloaded the latest version = "7.x-1.0-rc2" an I got the same error:

Notice: Undefined index: #file in theme_media_thumbnail() (line 286 .../sites/all/modules/media/includes/media.theme.inc).

I can´t upload even small files .pdf, txt, doc, xls.

I did a digin on media.theme.inc and find out the argument variable pased to the function theme_media_thumbnail() does not contain the element #file. This is what returns $variables;

Array
(
[element] => Array
(
[#show_names] => 1
[#add_link] =>
[#theme_wrappers] => Array
(
[0] => media_thumbnail
)

[#children] =>
[#name] =>
)

[theme_hook_suggestions] => Array
(
)

)

Line 289 calls for $element['#file'] which is missing.

Perhaps is a bug or a misconfiguration.

Is there a fix for this?

Are you certain the server has write permissions for the destination folder?

I can upload a jpg, png, gif without any problem.

I am still at lost with this. I googled and drupaled and cannot find anything related to my issue. Is there any way to trace this down as to where it might be blocking the upload of pdf? My user has all permissions checked, I seeked in field types, ckeditor configurations, text formats... I am simply at lost here.

In fact the files gets uploaded it seems, but the problem occur at the EMBEDDING stage. Even after selecting from the library, the "Embedding" panel does not allow to SUBMIT. The SUBMIT button is not clickable.

Submit

Does this help you help me? :/

Using 7.x.2.x.dev

Can upload the pdf, see it in the library, but when I click submit nothing happens.

Nearly the same problem here:
- selected a small .pdf file (135kb)
- Submitted it
- the "Embedding xxx.pdf" popup appears, asking the format I want, showing some options in a "select" field: Link, thumbnail, big, original, tokens. In the left part there is a standard file icon
- Whatever option gets selected, when I click Submit, I get in my Wysiwyg area the same grey standard file icon.

This icon is unclikable.

BUT the .pdf file actually IS uploaded, I can find it in my /files/ folder...
It looks like the Media module doesn't recognize the file mime format, trying to embed it somehow like a youtube video...

And more thing: my .pdf file is not listed under the Library tab, within the Media window.

My configuration:
Drupal 7.12,
Media 7.x-1.0-rc3,
Embedded Media Field 7.x-1.0-alpha1

I'm having similar issues. I posted on an issue in the Media queue that looks to be the same problem - http://drupal.org/node/1472708#comment-5863984

Hi all, if you are experiencing issues with Media, this is definitely something to discuss as a bug report on the issue queue. Head to http://drupal.org/node/1472708 and describe your issue including steps to reproduce the error. As far as i can tell, this is no longer a problem. Please do post updates there.

Not sure if this help someone.
But we noticed that when the public_html directory was protected by password, some Media features did not work. Removing the protection might help out. HTH
