Treat blogs/username path as the same as user created nodes when selected in the UI

Enabling blogs and navigating to the blogs/username path returns the site theme and then blogs/username/title returns the user selected theme. The blogs/username path is the "home" of the blog so if the user selects a different theme for the nodes they create then this page should also be treated the same.

If there is a way to make this work using the UI please explain as i have spent days looking at this to no avail. Ultimately it would give each user the ability to have ther own user defined blog theme instead of just for the nodes they create.
