I installed Drupal, and introduced myself to its interface etc. I must have done something that affected the forums, because when I post a message, the message is trackable (ie. exists) but it not displayed in the forum. Actually, the forum says there are -1 new posts.

On another note, Drupal satisfies my needs for much of my site, but I have written a site on my own, and need to implement some of the stuff over to the Drupal site. My old site uses the standard include header, include function, php code/html, include footer design. Some of the web application needs to make calls to the db, and pass data to another page which then takes over. What method should I use in converting my standard code to the Drupal system?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

After I posted, the "add new comment" on my post here struck my curiosity. I added the comment module to my site and Im back in action.

I am still interested in my second question though.

I thought we fixed the negative post count problem during the code freeze in preparation of Drupal 4.5.0. Are you running Drupal 4.5.0 or a Drupal 4.5.0 release candidate? Also, do you happen to have a node-level permission module enabled?

i turned on comments and the next post i made showed up correctly.

edit: i'm using 4.5.0

The same in my case:
no problem when the comment module is activated (I'm using 4.5.0, too)

Because i'm getting the same thing, from version 4.6.3

Will try enabling comments, but i dont really want comments at this time...

Per the Forum module page in the Handbook, Comments module and Taxonomy must be enabled for Forum's to work.

Do not assume any previous CMS or BB softwares architecture you have used is similier to Drupal.

Please also read the Best Practices link in my sig, there are some suggestions for configuring your site workflow to ensure that comments are only enabled for the forums module.

how about...

(A) Have a dependency notification in the modules section when forums are enabled

(B) A notice in the Forum setup area that Comments must be on

I just spent several hours messing with this, running version 4.5.6
