One of the things about good interface design is that its easy to see which elements are which. Stickynotes, in the real world, are yellow. It would be great if they were yellow on Drupal, too. It makes it easy to see what is a hidden note and what is content on the site.

Maybe yellow default but clear as an option?

Digital design that takes queues from the real world is referred to as Skeumorphism. It's a design trend that a lot of digital designers are moving away from (Apple, Windows, Android etc...). At first it was helpful to transition people into the "digital age" by making them feel comfortable using a device. These days, most people are fairly comfortable without a design referencing a real world object.

At this point, I don't think it would be helpful to make the stickynote block look like real stickynotes. As it stands the module is very simple (design and functionality) and I'd like to keep it this way to make it as lightweight and easy to use as possible.

If you want to theme the block yourself, a theme function is available.

Thanks for the suggestion.

See #1350990: Update Default Theming and ensure ease of theming for CSS that changes the design of the stickynote block.
