Since I prefer to search drupal.org with Google, I've done a searchplugin.
It works fine for me, and now I would be greateful if some could test it before I release it.
You'll find it at http://heltenkelt.se/webb/googledrupal
Please let me know if it works for you or if there is any problems (you don't need to register to leave comments).

This is extremely cool
I like this very much. It seems to work fine for me in Firefox 1.0 release.
I would like very much to be able to publish this on my own site - I had thought of writing a Drupal Google module, but this is so much quicker and easier!! However, I presume that the plugin would need some modification or parameterisation?
Feel free to publish it
Feel free to use or publish or modify it any way you like.
Please change the update link in the plugin so that it points to your site.
See http://mycroft.mozdev.org/deepdocs/installing.html on how to make an installation link for your own site.
I took this script, substituted my own urls etc and used the "PHP code" filter when I published it on a Drupal page (there is no php code, but this way Drupal does not change anything in the javascript).
Why didn't I think of this??
Great idea thanks! I also use google as my drupal search engine of choice. This worked very well with FF under Linux.

Doesn't work
It doesn't work for me. I click 'OK' when asked to install the search plugin, but my search bar does not get updated. I'm running the latest preview of FireFox 1.0 on a Gentoo Linux system. I'm already recompiling Firefox, upgrading to 1.0 final, to see if that makes a difference.
try this.
